Games of the Future
Gaming has evolved so much and there are so many games releasing, so I am going to share my top games that I am excited for!
After playing Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, which was an amazing experience (review coming soon), it made me wonder about what new games are coming out and how far technology has advanced. So, this is a topic about cool games on my radar that’s hopefully releasing this year.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits
The first game on the list is a beautiful game coming out this year with animations that I feel are on par with Pixar – Kena Bridge of Spirits. The game is being developed by Ember Labs, a company founded by brothers named Mike and Josh Grier and man the stuff they worked on before is simply art. They’ve worked on well-known projects like Majora’s Mask – Terrible Fate, a CGI retelling of the Majora’s Mask backstory and Dust which is a short live action film. They did so much that now they’ve decided to create this masterpiece of a game.
The graphics look amazing, and the gameplay looks addicting. It seems to be an open world action adventure, with cool boss fights and going around collecting little animals. The art direction for this game looks great and I can’t wait to experience this game and see how the story unfolds. Kena: Bridge of Spirits comes out September 21st, 2021, on PS4/PS5 and Epic Games Store.
Horizon Forbidden West
Now I have a confession to make – I’ve never played Horizon Zero Dawn because at the time it was a choice between that or The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild. So yeah, you know how hard of a choice that was! But seeing the recent gameplay reveal for Horizon Forbidden West now makes me want to give it a try with its beautiful world and take on machines.
My brother has played Horizon Zero Dawn and has been also really excited to play the newest game. It’s really wild how much of a graphical upgrade Guerrilla Games has been able to put into the PS5 version of the game, it looks like an animated movie and the environments look so real. The combat is very unique, and I can imagine how it can change with different items and abilities you get throughout the game – especially with underwater combat if that is added.
Horizon Forbidden West looks like it’s going to be a hell of a game when it comes out in 2022 for PS4 and PS5.
Deathloop
Ah yes Deathloop. I’m so hype for this game it grabs my attention so much with its characters, the mechanics, and art style of the game. Man, Arkane Studios has evolved a lot since Dishonored. Seeing how fluid Deathloop plays and how they incorporated Coles powers with his weapons is cool and fun as hell with its hitman concept and crazy action. I can’t wait to play it, one thing that has me curious is the multiplayer – to be invaded and taken out is a concept I remember seeing it only work in dark souls but hopefully it goes well.
I remember watching a Noclip interview with Arkane Studio founders and they mentioned mechanics they worked on for previous projects like the player invading another person’s main story mission. I believe the game was called The Crossing. It is good to see those ideas still being used and developed fully into a vision they want it to be. I can’t wait to see how the story will unfold when I play it. Knowing Arcane Studios, I’m positive it’s going to be a wild one. Deathloop comes out tomorrow, September 14, 2021, on PS5, and PC.
Sports Story
If you haven’t played Golf Story yet, check it out. It’s one of the most charming, fun games I’ve played on the Nintendo Switch. Golf Story is basically a golf adventure game with RPG elements with its world similar to Pokémon. It’s about a guy trying to be the very best… in golf.
Sidebar Games newest game is Sports Story. It takes all the sports you know and love and just made it into an amazing fun charming RPG like Golf Story. I can’t wait to play it when it comes out, especially knowing how Golf Story was like. I’m positive Sports Story is going to have some unique twists with each activity you do with charming characters and a blissful world. It will release on the Nintendo Switch but currently it seems like there is no release date or it got delayed from its original date.
Dying Light 2
Here we go again! Dying Light 2 Stay Human looks like it improved a lot from its predecessor, with more information, exploration, parkour and new and improved infected making the game more tense than before. There are also so many choices that can change the world setting entirely. I’m interested on how the game is going to be with its new engine and blissful story, but all I hope for is the multiplayer to work. It was fun in the first game so let’s see how we will fair this time.
Dying Light 2 Stay Human releases on December 7, 2021, for PC, PS4/PS5 and Xbox. “Good Night, Good Luck”.
Sifu
Mechanics, mechanics, mechanics. Sifu looks remarkable! I can’t wait for this game to come out. The combat is fluid and smooth. The amount of animations with each hit is just insane with the combos and the weaponry. Sifu is being developed by Sloclap, the studio behind Absolver and yeah they’ve improved a lot.
Sifu is about hunting the assassins of your family. You fight a bunch of enemies, and you have to utilize your skills and environment to overcome any combat scenario. From the looks of it, every time you lose you get older, or maybe it is showing that the main character has a long quest/story that spans many years of his life. I guess that’s why they say time is the price to pay. Oh man you just have to check it out, Sifu got delayed into 2022 but it’s going to be worth the wait. Please take all the time you need Slocap because Sifu looks absolutely amazing. Sifu will be for PS4/PS5 and PC.
Starfield
Ah yes, I have a little bit of hope for this one. It’s tickling my nostalgia of exploration from Fallout 3 and Skyrim. Yep, Starfield so far looks promising even though Bethesda only released a trailer. But the presentation and the hope for the future of the game and the company itself looks to be huge. There will there be a huge solar system to explore and even crazy cool alien species to meet. One thing for sure I hope they have a nice new vats system.
I am kind of worried because of the fact that Bethesda have given false promises before, especially with Fallout 76. I do hope that the Creative Engine is completely overhauled as they say to create better experiences for developers and players. I feel as though the engine can be a make or break for the game, but so far it looks like it’ll be good!
Starfield is coming 11-11-22 (the same date as Skyrim’s original release date), exclusively on Xbox and PC.
Atomic Heart
I’m not sure how much they’re paying your main character in Atomic Heart because if it was me, I’d stay home. Atomic Heart is a crazy/insane robot, BioShock type of game with different genres mixing together like action, horror and shooter. The game is developed by Mundfish.
What grabs my attention is the weird enemies and world. It’s creepy, but it keeps you in awe. I don’t know much about it, but from the looks of the trailers and gameplay it’s going to leave a mark in the gaming industry. It reminds me so much of Bioshock with certain aspects. Atomic Heart is coming to Xbox, Playstation and PC.
Little Devil Inside
Oh boy, Little Devil Inside is an upcoming action-adventure game. What’s unique about it is its charming art style but gritty world. We’ve only been shown a reveal trailer about it but so far it looks good. It showed two sides of the same coin a heroic adventure and old man living out his days.
The gameplay shown also reminds me of Monster Hunter. The combat and the way the character would run away from enemies gave me that sort of vibe. We don’t know when game will release but I know it will be worth the wait.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II
Alright look, the developers of Ninja Theory need to take their sweet time with this one. We know little details about it but that reveal trailer was amazing. I hope it’s not rushed in any form. Hellblade was such a unique experience that I hope Ninja Theory can do it again with Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2.
The original game was so different because it focused on Senua’s mental health being the main aspect of the gameplay, and how the mind can change your perspectives and reality. The combat was really great and so was the environments. With what they showed with where the game is going to be based at and how it’s even more of a darker tone from the original – I am excited to see how it all pans out. The game will release hopefully when the time is right exclusively for Xbox.
Overall, there’s so many games we haven’t talked about in this article, even the ones that might be delayed. Gaming has evolved so much that there’s a little something for everyone. Even during the pandemic, developers haven’t slowed down a bit. I commend them for that here’s to hope for a better future and more great experiences in gaming!
